The following letter was also included in the cornerstone:

"To Our Posterity:

We have built this church to the glory of God and for the purpose of nourishing our own Christian faith and the faith of our children.  To the extent that these aims are achieved, we shall judge our efforts successful.  It is our prayer that many generations shall find here a faith in God by which to live, and shall use these facilities for the nurturing of that faith in the coming generation.

This building is a witness to our faith in God.  We live in perilous days.  We are surrounded at all times with the possibility of total destruction.  Although we, and these stones, can be vaporized, we build in the certainty that God is the Lord of His creation.  Our building is an affirmation of confidence that God has not forgotten us or our world.

In the building of this church we are mindful that we have a debt to those who have preceded us in the Christian tradition.  We have worshipped and studied in buildings built by others and at their expense.  In the building of this church, we would pay our debt.  We call upon you in your day and time to carry on this faith and gospel that we have passed on to you."
