PREFACE

In preparing this narrative, several early decisions seemed necessary.  While it would have been perfectly proper and quite desirable to have named all of the members of the church who had served in the many offices over the years, both of the church and the Church School, as well as of the many subordinate groups, the limitation of space required that these be kept to a minimum.

There are many stalwarts whose names do not appear in these pages.  Without their efforts in all probability we would not be observing our 50th Anniversary under such favorable conditions.   Each of us has someone in mind whom we would like to see specially recognized for some fine contribution he or she has made in the past.

But where to begin and where to end would require a decision the author did not care to make.  We have therefore kept to a minimum mention of individual members or officers of the church, unless it was necessary in order to tell the full story.  Naturally, in the formative period of the church, names of the organizers are indicated.  We all would like to know, by name, those persons who banded together fifty years ago to establish this particular congregation.  Beyond that we did not feel it necessary or proper to go.

Over 5,800 persons at one time or another have been members of our church.  Many of them served on the various official boards, and many more served faithfully as officers of the various men's, women's and youth groups which have been a source of great strength to the church.  With even the greatest of care, someone worthy of mention would have gone unnamed.

Possibly , when the history of our first 100 years is written, some of this data can be included.
