VBS APPLICATIONS are in the newsletter and on the Family Ministries bulletin board.  Please sign your child(ren) up as soon as possible.  Attendance in each class is "capped" and we don't want your child to miss this exciting "Beach Party!"  Carmel is still looking for an adult (or two!) to lead recreation. If you are interested, please let her know.  Vacation Bible School meets July 21-25!

T.G.I.F. will attend the performance by the Detroit Dance Collective here on May 9 at 7:30 p.m.  Kay Rediers will be dancing with the group...it would be great for us to show our interest and support!  Check the clipboard at the desk for more information.

The 2008 Royal Oak CROP WALK will take place Sunday afternoon, May 4, at 1:30 p.m., with registration at 12:45, at First Baptist Church (309 N. Main).  There is still time to sign up to walk, or to sponsor one of our many fine walkers.  Come visit our table in the C.E. lobby for more information on how you can help.

Mark your calendars for SPRING CLEAN-UP!  Volunteers are needed Saturday, May 17 at 9:00 a.m. (raindate: May 24) to help clean up the grounds around our church.  Come join us, get some exercise, and enjoy a morning of fellowship as we spruce up our church grounds.  If you have your own tools (shovels, rakes, etc.), it would be most helpful if you could bring them along.

WE NEED YOUR HELP.  On May 18, thirty South Oakland Shelter guests will arrive at our Church.  Thanks to all that have already volunteered your time and talents, however, many morning and evening male and female host positions remain unfilled. Help is also desperately needed on the closing days of Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25.  If you have a little time during this important week, please consider filling one or more of the vacant positions on the sign up sheets.  Your help is needed.  If you cannot find the time to assist the program during this week and would like to make a monetary contribution, your donation should be made out to the Church with a note that is to be used for the SOS program.  Working together we become the “manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

Tickets are now on sale for the Francis Luttrell Fine Arts Series performance by the DETROIT DANCE COLLECTIVE, Friday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students.  These professional artists include our own Kay Rediers who is the Associate Artistic Director and Choreographer.  Free child care will be provided.

COMMUNITIES RESPONDING TO OVERCOME POVERTY    The annual Royal Oak CROP WALK is just around the corner.  Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 4 at 1:30 pm and join us for a walk on a beautiful sunny day.  Come to the CE Lobby between and after services to sign up to walk, or to sponsor one of our walkers.  The walk starts and ends at First Baptist church and follows the same route as last year.  A shorter one-mile route is available for those who may not have time for the more scenic five-mile route.  May God bless all walkers and sponsors.

SPRING CLEANUP.  The season is upon us and that means it’s time to mark your calendars for spring clean-up!  Many volunteers are needed Saturday, May 17 at 9:00 am (raindate:  May 24) to help clean up the grounds around our church.  Come join us, get some exercise, and enjoy a morning of fellowship as we spruce up our church grounds.  If you have your own tools (shovels, rakes, etc.), it would be most helpful if you could bring them along.

The CIA Senior Highs invite you to place your vote for who you would like to see KISS A FISH on Sunday, May 4 after the 10:30 service in Fellowship Hall.  The CIA Senior Highs will have four fish bowls in the CE Lobby labeled with the individuals who would like your vote (donation).  Our four lucky contestants are Don Daniels, Pastor Judi McMillan, Pastor Tom and Betsy Rice, and Carmel Tinnes.  Donations will go to help support the CIA Senior High Summer Mission Trip to West Virginia.  Come and see who gets the most donations and will KISS A FISH…it will be the one catch you will not want to miss.

Vision Statement for our church (Approved by Session 12/04):
“Called by God’s love in Jesus Christ, we respond by welcoming others into an energizing community of worship, learning and service. Moving forward in faith, making disciples of all ages, we are sent out in the power of the Holy Spirit to make a daily difference in the world.”
