​Preschool Teacher

The Sunflowers Teacher works part-time under the direction of, and in coordination with, the Sunflowers Preschool Director on all aspects of the position to prepare preschool students in the 3’s class and 4’s class for Kindergarten and to nurture them in Christian love.

Essential Job Functions:

Classroom & Teaching

  • Set up classroom for the day

  • Participate in all aspects of daily instruction, hands-on teaching, classroom management, and discipline

  • Clean up classroom at end of session

  • Answer phone calls and/or emails directed to the preschool

  • Be responsive to parental concerns

  • Participate in fire drills and tornado drills for both age groups

  • Participate in student evaluations and parent/teacher conferences

  • Help coordinate materials and be present at Parent Orientation, holiday events, and end-of-year celebrations

  • Help with other tasks as needed to ensure smooth functioning of the preschool;

Administration

  • In conjunction with Sunflowers Director, participate in planning for activities, crafts, and special functions.

  • Assist with maintaining classroom seasonal decor/bulletin boards; maintaining calendars for families; maintaining social media presence; creating online signup lists for families; and submitting church
    newsletter articles.  

  • Participate in occasional meetings related to the preschool with church staff and leadership

Ongoing Training

  • Upon hiring, complete yearly 16 hours of Early Childcare Classes

  • Upon hiring, complete CPR and First Aid every two years

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalence diploma

  • Early childhood education experience preferred

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Fulfil all requirements to comply with state licensing for a preschool teacher, including passing a fingerprint and background check (FIA Clearance) and getting a negative TB test

  • Available for the normal classroom schedule Monday through Friday, 8:15 am-12:15 pm, from mid-August through the first week of June. 

  • Salary: $16,400 â€‹â€‹
